Singapore Primary School Coding Education: Starting 2026
The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore has announced exciting news: coding education will become compulsory in all Singaporean primary schools starting from 2026.
What Will They Learn?
This coding education will begin from Primary 3, aiming to help children develop Computational Thinking skills.
- What is Computational Thinking? It refers to the ability to systematically analyze and solve complex problems, much like a computer. This skill can be naturally nurtured through learning to code.
How Are They Preparing?
To implement this new curriculum, the MOE plans to invest S$50 million in teacher training. They will support teachers in all 186 primary schools across Singapore to effectively deliver coding education.
For parents raising children in Singapore, it's good to be aware that coding will be a part of your child's educational journey moving forward.
