Singapore AOP Childcare: Is Your Child Eligible?

What is Singapore's Anchor Operator Scheme (AOP)?

If you're raising a child in Singapore, you've likely heard of 'AOP'. AOP is a government-supported programme that the Singapore government provides to selected childcare operators to increase access to quality and affordable childcare and education services. It was specifically designed to offer more opportunities to children from low-income families or those facing difficulties. It was launched in 2009 and further strengthened in 2014.

What Benefits Do AOP-Supported Childcare Centres Offer?

Childcare centres receiving AOP support make the following commitments:

  • Maintain Affordable Fees: They must adhere to the monthly fee caps set by the government.
    • Full-day Child Care: $610 per month (excluding GST)
    • Full-day Infant Care: $1,235 per month (excluding GST)
    • Kindergarten: $150 per month (excluding GST)
    • Even when fees are increased, they must remain at a level that parents can afford.
  • Invest in Quality Childcare and Education: They invest in improving facilities and programmes so children can learn and grow in a better environment.
  • Support for Childcare Professionals: They provide opportunities for professional development and career advancement for childcare teachers.

Can My Child Receive AOP Benefits?

Since AOP is a support given to specific childcare operators, you can naturally receive the benefits if you enrol your child in a designated AOP centre. For a list of AOP operators or more detailed information, please refer to the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) website in Singapore, or contact them using the details below.
